SAR rating of all Android phones

SAR rating of all Android phones

SAR is a very important value for our next smartphone. We collected all phones and compared their SAR values. There is also a table with SAR ratings of all Android phones.

What is SAR

SAR (specific absorption rate) is an indication of the amount of radiation that is absorbed into a head whilst using a cellular phone, the higher the SAR rating the more radiation that is absorbed into the head.

The SAR is counted in units of watts per kilogram (W/kg) in either 1g or 10g of tissue.

SAR: Europe and US with different limits

In Europe, the European Council Recommendation 519/1999/EC for exposure guidelines has adopted the recommendations made by the International Commission on Non-Ionising Radiation Protection (ICNIRP Guidelines 1998). In Europe the limit is 2.0W/kg in 10g of tissue.

In the US, the FCC, Federal Communications Commission, sets the radio frequency safety guidelines that all phones must meet before being sold in the US. Current reference standards and limits (status January 2001). In the US the limit is 1.6W/kg in 1g of tissue.

SAR rating of All Android devices

Below you can see a table with the SAR value of all Android smartphones. Most of the phones have their European value and their US value.

If a device is missing, ask for the rating in the comment form below. We will add it imidiately.

You can easily sort the table by company, model and SAR rating by taping on the title of each column. By taping again, the table sorts again.

    • Simon Koss  /  December 2, 2013, 11:14 am

Hi! The SAR of Note 3 is mentioned in the table, it is just 0.29. It is one of the lowest of the market. The other device is not described very well and I cannot understand which one it is.

  9. Guido Samson  /  December 29, 2013, 8:29 am

Very nice and useful info. Keep it up. You should put the SAR readings of all the Chinese clone cellphones. This so we know what we buy.

    • Simon Koss  /  December 30, 2013, 6:03 am

Thank you! Unfortunately, as the Chinese are made in China, they don’t pass the SAR tests in the US or Europe. So there is no SAR value for them.

      • Nor  /  December 30, 2013, 1:56 pm

Is it so? Even for brands like oppo and xiaomi? Because they look and seem to have fantastic specs, but if they don’t pass european SAR tests, then for me they are no option!

        • Simon Koss  /  January 3, 2014, 8:17 am
